Description: The formerly fruitless quarter-acre space in front of the St. Joseph's Health Centre at 100 Westmount Road was repurposed this summer as the first Guelph Youth Farm. The farmers ranging in age from 18-25, hosted a harvest garden party on August 24th, with music and refreshments to celebrate a great growing season, sell some of their fresh produce, and share more information with the community about their initiative. The Youth Farm was launched in May this year by The SEED, a community based food project through the Guelph Community Health Centre. The money made from the harvest will help support the cost of running future youth programs, and the space will hopefully remain a garden for future youth to visit and learn from.
